iPhone 7 Launch Recap

The iPhone 7 was unveiled during Apple’s hotly-anticipated launch event in San Francisco on Wednesday 7 September 2016. The new iPhone doesn’t look too different to last year’s iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus, sporting a similar aluminium design and rounded edges; but this time without the iconic antenna lines. The first iPhone was released in 2007 followed by release of iPhone 3G, iPhone 3G S, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPhone 5S and 5C, iPhone 6, 6 Plus, 6S and most recently the unveiled iPhone 7 and 7Plus.

Social media is buzzing with everyone talking about the Airpods and the lack of the headphone jack on the iPhone 7. So we think the idea of the wireless headphones is definitely the future and is quite kool. The design of the Airpods though could be much better than what we have seen in the images. Perhaps a clipping mechanism so that the airpods don’t easily fall out would be much appreciated and certainly more universal; our ears are designed different and some may find it difficult to keep the airpods while exercising for example. Imagine you have just bought your new iPhone 7 and on your evening jog, you make a sudden move and out comes your airpod that drops on the road and is immediately trampled by the runners close behind, unintentionally of course.

Now, about the removal of the phone headphone jack… At first this will likely create a host of problems for early adopters of the phone because it means that, for example… you are at a party and you want the DJ to play your favorite song but the only way he/she can connect to an external device is via the headphone jack. Well, in this case you will be …out of luck! Or think of just connecting your phone to your stereo in your car… most cars need that headphone jack for easy connection. I know a lot of you are screaming ‘well use bluetooth!’, but what if your car stereo does not have bluetooth? I guess these are the immediate concerns a lot of us in Zimbabwe will have but I am 99% sure they won’t stop those that can afford the phone from purchasing one.

Contact us when you purchase yours and tell us how you like it. I can’t help but wonder who will be the very first Zimbabwean based in Zimbabwe to own one. Are you looking forward to getting the new iPhone 7 or have you decided to go with another brand?
