Internship Information & Communications Technology (ICT) Intern

The ICT Intern facilitates the maintenance of the IT environment and infrastructure. The Intern will also be responsible for trouble-shooting and resolving computer and internet related issues with users. He/she will also be responsible for maintenance of all computer related equipment and software, to include updating of Windows and Anti-virus files.
In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly.
Key areas of accountability
Ensure global IT standards, policies and procedures are adhered to; Provide timely trouble-shooting and other support for hardware/software problems by phone and email to field staff and during workshops; Work with the IT team to keep the network and all staff computer systems safe, secure and virus-free in an ‘always on’ environment; Provide first level support to SCI applications and systems and promptly report any failures to the deployed IT resource and the regional office IT operations; Perform any other duties as assigned from time to time
Qualifications, experience & skills
Pursuing a first degree in related field and looking for Attachment for their third year; Diploma in Information Technology or the equivalent accrued working experience in a related position. Demonstrated understanding and proficiency of recent networking, telephony, internet technologies and ability to maintain awareness of current technologies and trends within these areas; Having enough practical experience on computer based systems, and environment and with good background in user support; Practical experience in the following products, platforms and areas of expertise: Microsoft Windows 32/64 bit; TCP/IP Networking, DNS, DHCP, WAN; Remote Access; Ability to establish and maintain conducive collegial relations and perform effectively as a member of a team; Good documentation skills are desired; Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills; Good time management and task prioritization ability
