Facebook Porn Video Virus

No no no, kwete shamwari, hatshi mgane, your friend did not post a porn video to their Facebook or to your Facebook group. When you see these porn videos on facebook, don’t get curious and click on them. Thousands of Zimbabwe Facebook users (and outside Zimbabwe) are falling pray to this virus.

According to the articles we have read online, the malware tricks unsuspecting Facebook users into clicking on a friend’s infected link that promises porn footage. Once clicked, intentionally or in error, the user sees a preview of a porn video, but is then prompted to download a version of Flash. Instead of Flash, the malware begins downloading a malicious trojan that infects the user’s computer. The Trojan takes control of the computer and mouse. It is then spread through that person’s Facebook wall with a post that tags a large number of the user’s friends. Thousands have fallen pray to this silly virus and more continue to fall pray everyday.

Facebook Porn Virus find a serviceApparently this malware keeps its profile low by only tagging less than 20 users in each round of posts so in this case, the tag may be seen by friends of the victim’s friends as well, which leads to a larger number of potential victims speeding up the malware propagation.

Facebook acknowledged the malware and have advised that their team is diligently working on fixing this issue.

Facebook is reported to use a number of automated systems in identifying potentially harmful links and automatically stopping them from spreading, but in this case, these malware varieties, are typically hosted as browser extensions and distributed using links on social media sites like Facebook.

It is important to always stay vigilant when using social media. If it looks or sounds unusual, chances are it is. How many people would really post a pornographic video to their personal Facebook page or group and even tag their friends? Besides, we should not be promoting circulation of porn because the majority of those women in porn are not taking part by their own free will. Human trafficking among other horrific acts of abuse force these women to partake in these degrading acts.

LESSON HERE: Don’t just click on everything you see on Facebook. Skip the porn. Grab a book and read or catch up on a conversation with your family or friends.
